Manage a large Head Start center, supervising at team of approx. 24.

*Must be knowledgeable of:  

  • WI Department of Children and Families child care licensing requirements;  
  • Child and Adult Care Food Program 
  • Uniform Guidance, Procurement Procedures  
  • Appropriate methods of training, group facilitation, and instructional techniques based on adult learning principles; 
  • Head Start program Performance Standards & Head Start Act  

Responsible to the executive director for maintaining an assigned center(s) as required by the standards, policies and procedures of Family Forum, Inc

Responsibilities

LEADERSHIP 

  • Works as a team member to support the functions and operations of the center
  • Engages in personal and professional development through college coursework and/or trainings
  • Provides staff training and development including on-site consultation, and mentoring to other staff
  • Assists in employee onboarding, employee development, and training sessions
  • Conducts monthly staff and safety meetings
  • Supervises all center assigned staff, employee placements and volunteers
  • Conducts annual employee performance evaluations on center staff

 
TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE  

  • Coordinates a program of in-service and training for the staff and parents of the center on a monthly basis.
  • Works directly with underperforming staff to develop and implement individualized corrective action plans
  • Assists in the recruitment and enrollment of children and their families
  • Mentor, trains and provides feedback to education staff in teaching practices in a supportive, instructive, and non-judgmental way
  • Establishes a comfortable relationship with assigned staff
  • Conducts classroom observations to promote developmental practices and sound program approaches to delivery of services

 
ONGOING MONITORING 

  • Assist with the collection and analyzing child outcome data
  • Assists in ensuring program curriculum fidelity and data analysis
  • Monitors all staff, children, and facility to ensure safety; to include regular monitoring of the implementation of active supervision and communication with assigned administration personnel
  • Monitors the effectiveness of all programs at the center and reports findings and issues to the Executive Director
  • Implements and monitors all Federal, State and Local standards and agency policies related to site program
  • Responsible for all reports and reporting assigned to the center by Family Forum, Inc.  

 
FACILITY 

  • Communicates with the landlord (if applicable) concerning the facility
  • Responsible for facility up-keep, reporting facility issues and working with contractors for repairs when building is owned by Family Forum, Inc. 
  • Arranges contracts with businesses for up-keep of facility grounds (i.e. snowing shoveling, grass cutting, parking lot plowing)

 
TRANSPORTATION 

  • Monitors the transportation system and maintenance of the vehicle/vehicles assigned to their centers
  • Oversees the transportation of children from the time they are signed in on the bus to the time they are signed out and delivered safely to the designated person as documented in the child’s file. This includes monitoring the emergency phone line

 
OTHER 

  • Keeps informed of current theories and practices in the field
  • Works collaboratively with the mental health consultant
  • Works closely with Family Forum, Inc. staff to support a culture of promoting children's mental health and social and emotional well-being while respecting the unique identity of each child and family
  • All program policies are included in the job responsibilities of the position and are to be implemented in addition to this job description
  • Responsible for developing program plans, policies and procedures that support the implementation of the performance standards for all assigned components
  • Must comply with all state and federal requirements and meet any specific content area requirements
  • Maintains full enrollment in their assigned center
  • Responsible for record-keeping and reporting systems in the center
  • Oversees the fiscal operations of the center
  • Compares and reviews prices of requested purchases
  • Receives contractor invoices and verifies contracted work is complete
  • Approves and authorizes purchase orders to be submitted
  • Verifies receipt of purchases
  • Notifies Finance Department of returned goods
  • Reports to the County Health Officer and the Division of Community Services suspected or confirmed cases of reportable communicable diseases within the time frames listed on the Wisconsin Communicable Disease Chart  
  • Serves on committees as requested by supervisor
  • Attends meetings as requested by the supervisor  
  • All program policies are included in the job responsibilities of the position and are to be implemented in addition to this job description
  • Other duties may be assigned by the Executive Director

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or bachelor's degree in early childhood education, education, or child development from an institution of higher education
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred and listed rate of pay reflects this
  • Associate's degree rate of pay is 5% less than listed starting rate of pay
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have at least 2 years of experience as a child care teacher or center director in a group child care center or other approved setting


Compensation
$26.25 hourly
