Our law firm has a full-time associate attorney position available now and we’re looking for the right professional to join our team. You will have the opportunity to learn from senior associates and litigation associates on legal issues and will provide legal counsel to existing clients. You’ll also be responsible for performing legal research, drafting documents, and keeping client files up to date.   • Maintain client files in an organized fashion to ensure up-to-date information is handy for other attorneys, paralegals and support staff
  • Review client issues on legal matters, analyze available options, and diligently work to determine the best course of action
  • Collaborate with clients and senior associates and other staff to move cases toward resolution efficiently
  • Perform legal research, prepare for and attend hearings or other legal proceedings, and give general counsel under the supervision of senior associate attorneys
  • Create legal documents, including correspondence, briefs, motions, pleadings, contracts, affidavits, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings

  • Consulting with clients to ascertain the details and merits of each case.
  • Conducting research using legislation, case law, and other legal texts as sources to advocate for cases in litigation or on appeal.
  • Drafting legal motions, appeals, and briefs for USCIS and Immigration Court.
  • Representing clients at meetings, hearings, and trials (Arlington Immigration Court, USCIS Norfolk, USCIS Fairfax).
  • Informing your Supervising Attorney about salient developments in each case.
  • Reviewing casework from Legal Assistants and Paralegals to ensure the applications are ready to be filed and supervising support staff's work and efficiency.
  • Ensuring that data obtained during interactions with clients remain confidential and are stored securely.
  • Remaining abreast of changes to Immigration Law and Policies

  • Active member of the American Bar Association (ABA)
  • Ability to work with senior attorneys to best serve client needs and grow our client base
  • Has a Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law school
  • Candidates must have passed the bar exam
  • Effective communication skills and problem-solving skills are necessary to work with all levels of staff and clients

  • Accredited Law degree
  • Licensed to practice law (Virginia Bar preferred)
  • Proven experience practicing as an Attorney (at least two years experience preferred)
  • Familiarity with legislation and case law within and related to Immigration Law
  • Fluency in Spanish and English (verbal and written) is highly preferred
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Perceptive and meticulous, with a thorough understanding of human behavior
  • Capacity to regulate, manage and perform under stress
