Miller Law Office, PLLC

We are looking for an attorney who has a passion for helping seniors in the areas of Medicaid crisis planning (elder law) and estate planning. The ideal candidate will hit the ground running and give our clients outstanding representation. Compassion is a must, as we are usually working with people at one of the most stressful points in their lives. This is very much a client-facing position – you will be in contact with clients, on the phone, in person, or over zoom daily. The applicant who is low-maintenance, has a great sense of humor, and cares about others, will succeed in our firm.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate experience in taking ownership of a client's case
  • Designing and drafting estate plans, reviewing and explaining those documents to clients
  • Designing Medicaid eligibility plans, working with the client to implement those plans, filling out the Medicaid application and supporting documentation, and coordinating with the client, nursing home, and Medicaid caseworker
  • Drafting, filing, and walking through uncontested probate applications
  • Conduct client meetings and recommend strategies
  • Delegate work when applicable and monitor the delegated work

Qualifications
  • Candidates must have passed the bar exam
  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree required from an accredited law school
  • Exceptional communication skills and problem-solving skills needed in order to work with all levels of staff and our clients

  • We need an attorney that can take a client’s hopes and dreams and create a personalized estate plan for them
  • We need an attorney that can explain complicated concepts in easy to understand language
  • We need an attorney that is confident and can put our clients at ease
  • We need an attorney that is organized, detail-oriented, and a critical thinker with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Our ideal attorney knows their way around Medicaid and if they don’t yet, are teachable and willing to learn
  • Our ideal candidate has at least four years of Estate Planning and Elder Law experience
  • Our ideal attorney knows how to draft documents using Lawyers with Purpose or ElderCounsel drafting systems
  • Guardianship or business planning experience is not necessary, but it is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • If you see each meeting as an opportunity to make a huge difference in a family’s life, you’ll like the way we think
  • Skills and experience are important and valued, but your personality, character, intelligence, and integrity are also extremely important considerations
  • A positive attitude and adaptability are a must. We are growing, so you will be called upon to wear many hats. We need someone who does not think that the occasional need to scan your own documents is “beneath you"
  • Active member of the State Bar of Texas in good standing
  • Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Pass background check and drug test

Compensation
$60,000 - $85,000 yearly
