Dormer Harpring, LLC

We are seeking an Associate Attorney to join our growing Plaintiffs' Personal Injury firm. We are looking for an associate with experience handling cases from intake through trial to verdict, who understands how to manage, negotiate, settle, and try personal injury cases.

We will expect the associate to work within all our practice areas, which include motor vehicle crashes, trucking, product liability, insurance bad faith, wrongful death, premises liability, and various other smaller sub-areas of personal injury. We do not practice workers' compensation but would be open to someone who can handle those cases. We do not usually take medical malpractice cases but do assess them.

We work as co-counsel in- and out-of-state and will expect the associate to be comfortable doing the same. We do not require that you bring a caseload with you.

Compensation will come in the form of a base salary of $60,000 - $150,000, depending on experience and caseload (if any) that you can bring to the firm, along with a 20% commission each quarter on cases after meeting a quarterly goal. An agreed annual salary will directly affect the quarterly goal, so a higher quarterly goal in fees will result in a higher salary. A lower salary will translate to a lower quarterly goal. Commission kicks in once you reach that quarterly goal.

Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance access, 401(k), unlimited vacation & sick leave, and a flexible/remote schedule to ensure a healthy work-life balance.

Responsibilities

  • Managing cases with a team of two paralegals and with assistance from the support staff and a special litigation team.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents on behalf of clients.
  • Negotiate settlements.
  • Create, discuss, and execute case plan strategies.
  • Take depositions.
  • Meet with and hire expert witnesses and prepare them for depositions.
  • Handle hearings independently.
  • Handle Mediations.
  • Investigate cases.
  • Draft, send, and run discovery.
  • 1st and 2nd chair personal injury trials.
  • Draft, research, and respond to motions.
  • Take potential client intakes.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in plaintiff personal injury law is absolutely required.
  • Ambition to try cases to juries.
  • Strong social and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and empathize with clients.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to work with a team, including taking and giving constructive criticism.
  • Ability and desire to treat team members with respect and fairness.
  • Ability to work in a paperless environment.
  • Interest in learning various technical and non-legal fields in order to understand the issues in cases.

Compensation
$60,000 - $150,000+ yearly
