Carolina Family Estate Planning is an innovative, well-organized, well-run, rapidly growing law firm focused solely on estate planning, estate administration, elder law, and asset protection in Cary, NC.

Our firm is looking for an associate attorney who is also innovative, well-organized, and who shares our growth mindset. The associate attorney will be responsible for continuing our commitment to provide the legal services of the firm and operate under the firm’s policies, procedures, and quality standards.

The firm has an experienced Firm Administrator and an amazing team who handle the day-to-day management, operations, HR, and the like so our attorneys can focus on what they do best: providing excellent legal counseling to our clients.

$70,000 - $90,000 depending on experience; additional bonus opportunity based upon KPI performance.


The associate attorney’s responsibilities will extend from “soup to nuts”. He or she will: meet with clients to design planning that will work to best to serve clients’ interests; review documents before they leave the office for quality and accuracy; lead and mentor the firm’s legal production team; work with our lead attorney to address any process and procedure improvements, and team with the Firm Administrator to help develop the firm’s operations policies and processes to ensure that clients’ files move smoothly through the office. The associate may also be asked to write and deliver topical articles and presentations for professional and community groups. 

The successful candidate will be an effective practitioner with a passion for helping clients using innovative, but proven techniques. You are compassionate, and yet you also understand that the firm needs to work efficiently and profitably in order to grow and to best serve the community. And the candidate is ready to mentor and lead a team within the firm that takes pride in a job well done.

The ability to connect with clients and other firm members is paramount to driving personal and firm success. Integrity, honesty, and trustworthiness must be unwavering to succeed, along with a willingness to do whatever it takes to help the team as a whole.


To get the job done, you must have a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law with a current license to practice law in the state of North Carolina with at least 5-7 years’ estate planning and estate administration experience. Prior supervisory and leadership experience helpful. L.L.M. in Taxation and/or CELA helpful, but not required.

In a nutshell, you will have a knack for producing excellent legal work, editing information, and establishing priorities. You also naturally maintain order and adapt to changing priorities. You follow through and have no problem following and improving established procedures, evaluating and creating new procedures, and ensuring completion of all files by established deadlines while ensuring an effective system is in place to do so. You are also coachable, have a positive attitude, willing to learn, and always treat others with respect.
