Under close supervision, assembles and installs wiring, small parts, capacitors, switches and related components into cabinets; fabricates various sub-assemblies; and does other additional work as required.

Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Works primarily with other assemblers and is responsible for consistently meeting quality and production standards.
  • May assist sheet metal, grinding, and welding work crews as needed.
  • Operates forklift to move pallets and cabinets.
  • Assembles capacitor racks.
  • Installs oil switches, copper fuse holders, insulation, mountings, porcelain, links, and louver covers.
  • Drills and installs glastic fittings.
  • Builds transformer brackets.
  • Verifies correct clearances and hole diameters are given blueprints.
  • Operates air sander to deburr door handles and round corners on Plexiglas.
  • Operates mini-punches, notches, grinders, band saws, impact wrenches, ratchets and small hand tools.
  • Makes up small hardware parts.
  • Cleans and maintains work area.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and stop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

Compensation
$14 - $17 based on experience
