Position Description:
Reporting directly to the Controller, the Accounting Assistant is responsible for performing basic accounting functions, such as processing accounts payable, account reconciliations, budget review, insurance and making deposits. They must ensure the timely completion of said functions and maintain a high standard of accuracy while performing them. 

• Properly record financial transactions
• Make sure accounts receivable/payable are complete
• Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct daybook, suppliers ledger, customer ledger, and general ledger
• Reconcile bank statements and prepare financial statements
• Process payroll to provide payment to employees on time

Accounts Payable

• Review and process purchase orders for payment.
• Disperse invoices to department heads for review.
• Enter invoices with correct cost codes and schedule for payment.
• Correspond with vendors with inquiries/questions.
• Review expense statements/reimburse for payment.
• Oversee vendor maintenance/initial setup for payment.
• Research bills/invoices as needed.
• Research past-due invoices.
• Maintain electronic files to ensure organization and communication.
• Receive, deposit, and distribute all deposits and receivables and pertinent information.
• Make bank deposits as needed.

Account Reconciliations

• Reconcile all bank accounts, credit cards, general ledger, etc. monthly.
• Prepare journal entries for approval.

Loan Processing

• Update and reconcile loan balance reports.
• Report Builders Risk insurance filings.
• Record entries and post balances.

Insurance

• Maintain and review all Builders Risk insurance.
• Maintain and review all corporate insurance policies.
• Assist with miscellaneous insurance needs. i.e., life insurance, vehicular insurance, etc.

 Budget

• Prepare monthly budget v. actual reports.
• Disperse budget v. actual reports to department heads.
• Reconcile/audit existing operating budget and departmental budgets.
• Alert when existing expenses and budget are misaligned.

• Worked previously with basic accounting systems, QuickBooks, and Excel
• Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Excellent time management, problem-solving, and communication skills

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one year of related experience and/or training.
• Ability to accurately process and record a large volume of numerical data.
• Ability to collaborate with management and interact with customers, trade-partners, and vendors.
• Team player with a great attitude, emotional intelligence and driven to results.
• Strong financial analysis abilities and excellent problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrate excellence in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, and reporting.
• Ability to work in a fast paced and growing environment.
• Willing to take the initiative, be creative and take ownership.
• Demonstrate keen attention to detail, showcase organization abilities and leadership qualities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• BA in accounting or related field.
• Banking background helpful.
• Some overall residential construction knowledge.
